Always Include Keywords
You should include your keyword in any Google AdWords ads. The keyword is there to grab the attention of a prospect – and if a person doesn’t see what he’s looking for in your ad, he might just skip it and look at others. Of course, you ad must also be appealing, compelling and make total sense. This may be difficult because there is a limited space for the ad, but an excellent advertiser can create great ads even with such little word space. It’s a waste of time, effort and opportunity, if you don’t include the keywords in your ads.
Bidding From High To Low
Lets take a look at how Google ranks your ads. Your ads are ranked according to your bid price and your click through number (Click Through Rate or CTR). When your ad is displayed and being click on, the total count is called the CTR. Being new to AdWords, your quality score is definitely low, so to be on the first page is more difficult . One way is to bid higher to get your ad shown. Most newbies bid high to get that initial exposure. This gets you better CTRs, and then you can slowly lower your bidding price. Ultimately, the goal is then to keep your ad on the first page with the lowest bid price possible.
Low to High Bidding Strategy
This is another bidding strategy, complete opposite of the previous bidding strategy. This is very useful for keywords that aren’t so competitive or popular. If your budget is limited, you can also use this method. You begin by bidding low and then slowly increasing your bid price until you land on the first page. Still, it is important to work within your budget, keep your ads on the first page while bidding as low as possible.
Use Negative Keywords
Negative keywords help prevent your ads from appearing in search results that are unrelated, else your ads can appear to audiences who are not your target. You have a specific audience to target and you want to make sure that your ad gets to them and no others. If you don’t use the negative keywords function, your ad could appear on the wrong place and wrong people. For example, you might be selling a dog collar and “collar” is your keyword. Your ad will appear each time a person types in “collar”, but there are many topics surrounding the word “collar” and the person may not be necessarily looking for dog collar. He could be looking for cat collar. What you can do is to use the negative keywords function and add “cat” into it, so that your ad don’t show. It’s better to use the negative keyword especially you want to reduce unwanted ad exposure. This helps increase your CTR and most of your visitors are more likely to buy from your site.
Ad Testing
Testing your ads is important, but you don’t have to do much because Google AdWords can test your ads for you. Simply put 2 different ads into an AdGroup and Google will display them alternately. After a specific time frame, you will get results on which ad gets a higher CTR. With the result, you can choose which ad to remove and which ad to use. If you have plenty of ads, you can continue the testing process until you find out which ad works best.
Google is one of the best places to place your ad because it is the biggest search engine on the face of the planet. The key is to know what works and what’s not in Google. Use the strategies here and you’re ready to go.
